Meet Mario!

Hi, my name is Mario the bear, and I am a GeoAnimal from Pinellas Preparatory Academy. I like to go for walks on the beach and go camping in my spare time. This is my second year as a GeoAnimal and I am excited to travel again!  I have been to South Carolina, Scotland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Chicago, Germany and all the way back to Florida already!  I would love to make some new friends! I represent the 7th grade "samurai"- boys at PPA.  Please let me hang out with you for 1-2 weeks, then pass me on to someone who will take good care of me like you did.  Whoever has me on April 15, 2011, please send me back to my school.  Please update my blog with all my adventures so that my friends at PPA can see.  Email pictures of my adventures to our adviser, Mrs. DeBaker, at hdebaker@pinellasprep.org, and she will post them :)  Also, you can send postcards, souvenirs, and letters to our school.  The 7th Graders love to get mail! Thank you for helping me travel the world and for taking care of me!

Mario loves England!
The English like to bring their dogs almost everywhere, even into pubs and to sporting events. However ALL dogs are very well behaved, they are always on leads (leashes) and their owners pick up after them.
Poole is a very clean town. Even the traffic lights get washed regularly!
These are some of the sail boats that are used to teach sailing. There are not many students in the winter though. Even in summer, swimmers, sailors and windsurfers have to wear wetsuits because the water is so cold.

This is a sign in Poole Centre.
Every English town has a High Street it is either the main shopping street in town.

In England you must pay to park almost everywhere. Some car parks make it easier than others.

In England, everyone drives on the left side of the road, even the horses!

Poole is on the coast of England so you have a beautiful from almost anywhere!

These are some of the beach huts that people own here in Poole. They're all closed up now of course because it's winter.

  1. Hi 7th grade "Samurai" boys! It's me, Mario. I'm in Lanesville, Indiana right now. I travelled up to Panama City, Florida on Thanksgiving, then jumped in the car headed north. I've been to Early Childhood Adventures preschool with Mrs. Michelle. She took me in to meet the preschoolers, and they loved me! I got to read them some stories like "Bear Snores On" and "Bedtime for Frances" (Also a bear, that story made me sleepy), then I got to do a project with the children. We counted stars (just up to four) and glued them onto our paper. I have one in my backpack to show you when I get back to see you, and don't worry, I didn't get glue on my fur. Mrs. Michelle says I'm headed far away either to London or Norway, I'm not sure which yet, I may be making another stop in New Albany, Indiana before I head out, I'll let you know as soon as I can. I hope the weather is warmer there, and boy am I glad you sent me with this hat and scarf, it's a freezing 30 degrees up here right now, and 20's at night, sure glad I'm staying warm inside. Mrs. Michelle took pictures with the children in her preschool. She said that she will send them to you in the mail. Thanks for letting me come along. Mrs. Michelle told me and the children that she too got to travel as an exchange student when she was a junior in high school. She went to Norway for a year, she said it was the best year of her life. I hope I get to see Norway too so I can share it with you. I'll post more before I go, hope you all are well. Miss me yet? Mario

  2. Hello Pinellas Preparatory Academy,
I have just arrived in Poole, England. Poole is a small city on the southeast coast. I am looking forward to spending the week with the Weers family who will be sure to take some pictures for you. So I will be in touch later this week to let you know what I've been up to.
    Mario
